Job summary

Exafore, a Finnish technology company, seeks a GNSS Specialist with strong C programming skills to join our team in Tampere. You will develop embedded software for GNSS receivers and contribute to measurement engines, DSP and algorithms, collaborating with customer R&D teams on tailored GNSS projects.

You will work on improving performance, memory efficiency and real-time capabilities on embedded GNSS platforms while expanding your GNSS expertise within a close-knit engineering team.

Are you passionate about developing cutting-edge GNSS and signal processing technology? Exafore is a Finnish technology company specializing in location technology solutions and services, with a strong focus on GNSS receiver development. We are seeking a GNSS Specialist with good hands‑on software development skills in C and some knowledge of GNSS to join our team and help build world‑class positioning systems for challenging real‑world environments.

Our office is located in Tampere, Finland. You can work mostly remotely if you live in Finland and can visit the office occasionally. Please note that we are unable to offer remote work opportunities outside Finland.

YOUR ROLE AS A GNSS SPECIALIST

As a GNSS Specialist, you will contribute to the development of advanced GNSS solutions, with a focus on C-based software development. You will work with measurement engines, DSP, algorithms, and embedded software, developing and improving software components used in GNSS positioning systems. You will have the opportunity to deepen your GNSS expertise while working alongside experienced Exafore colleagues and the customer’s R&D team on a GNSS development project tailored to their specific needs.

Key responsibilities:

• Embedded software development: Develop and maintain C code for GNSS receiver platforms and customer systems, contribute to new features, and help improve existing software.
• Contribute to GNSS measurement layer development: Work with signal acquisition, tracking, and pseudorange/phase extraction algorithms, gaining hands‑on experience in GNSS signal processing.
• Improve algorithm performance: Participate in optimizing computational efficiency, memory usage, and real‑time performance on embedded GNSS receivers.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• C programming: Industry experience in C programming and software development. Experience with embedded and/or real‑time systems is a plus.
• GNSS knowledge: Some experience or knowledge of GNSS gained e.g. through work, studies or projects. Familiarity with GNSS signal processing or receiver algorithms is a plus.
• Software development practices: Hands‑on experience with version control (e.g. Git), testing, and software development processes.
• Communication: Fluent in English with clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.

OUR TEAM AND GNSS PROJECTS

• Exafore was established in 2015, and today we have a team of 16, including 12 specialists working on GNSS and embedded systems.
• Our GNSS software engineering services cover the full development lifecycle, from requirements and algorithm development to software implementation and testing. Our customers range from early‑stage startups and mass‑market applications to established GNSS receiver manufacturers and research organizations.
• Currently, we have five ongoing GNSS‑related customer projects, including IoT GNSS receiver development, multi‑frequency measurement engine development, and GNSS/AoA development for synthetic aperture antennas.
