Wärtsilä in Finland seeks a Technical Expert to strengthen the Automation team, focusing on Wärtsilä 4-stroke engines for marine and power plant applications worldwide.

You will provide advanced technical support, analyze and resolve complex automation issues, conduct site surveys, and contribute to product development and testing of next-generation platforms in a partly remote, hybrid work model with about 25% travel.

Qualifications

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical, Electronics, Automation, Mechatronics, Control Systems, or related field.
  • Experience in technical troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Experience with embedded control or automation systems.
  • Strong analytical mindset and systematic approach to investigations.
  • Good English communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel ~25% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level technical support remotely and on-site.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex automation issues.
  • Conduct site surveys, commissioning support, and field investigations worldwide.
  • Simulate and analyze field issues in advanced automation labs.
  • Perform root cause analyses and support reliability improvements.
  • Manage engine automation software configurations, upgrades, backups, and modifications.
  • Collect field feedback and operational data to identify improvements.
  • Prepare technical documentation and reports.
  • Initiating, leading, and supporting product and process development projects.
  • Collaborate with R&D to enhance product performance.
  • Support product introductions, validation, and testing of next-generation platforms.
  • Act as a technical reference point across the organization.
