Wärtsilä in Finland seeks a Technical Expert to strengthen the Automation team, supporting and developing automation solutions for Wärtsilä 4-stroke engines used in marine and power plant applications worldwide. The role includes high-level remote and on-site technical support, troubleshooting, site surveys and field investigations, with opportunities to collaborate across R&D and technical departments.

Candidates should hold a B.Sc./M.Sc.

Qualifications

Experience with technical troubleshooting and problem-solving.
Experience with embedded control or automation systems.
Strong analytical mindset and systematic approach to technical investigations.
Good communication skills and proficiency in English.
Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

Provide high-level technical support to customers remotely and on-site.
Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex automation and control system issues.
Conduct site surveys, commissioning support, and field investigations worldwide.
Simulate and analyze field issues in the automation laboratory with physical and virtual test environments.
Lead root cause analyses and support product reliability improvements.
Manage engine automation software configurations, upgrades, backups, and system modifications.
Collaborate with R&D and other departments to solve technical problems and enhance product performance.
Support product introductions, validation, and testing for next-gen automation platforms.
