Job summary

atNorth is a leading Nordic data center company ensuring safe, sustainable construction site operations for its FIN04 campus. The HSE Manager will implement the HSE framework across site teams, workers, and contractors, maintaining records and driving continuous improvement.

The role requires 3+ years in HSE, strong risk management, audits, and clear communication. English is essential, Finnish is a plus; related certifications are advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Studies, Engineering, or similar, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on HSE experience, ideally from construction, industrial, or data center environments.
  • Solid understanding of HSE risk management, audits, and operational safety practices.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate documentation and reports.
  • Confident communicator, able to engage with employees, contractors, and site management.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee the HSE network at the FIN04 campus site, and report to the HSE Nordic Lead.
  • Lead the atNorth’s HSE policies, procedures, and IMS implementation across the full data center campus construction site project.
  • Embed strong occupational health, safety and environmental practices related to construction activities.
  • Maintain accurate site-level HSE documentation, records, and evidence to support audits and compliance.
  • Support internal and external HSE audits, inspections, and site walks, including follow-up of corrective actions.
  • Verify Risk Assessments and Method Statements, and ensure adequate management of change activities.
  • Monitor daily site activities to verify implementation of risk controls and promote safe behaviors.
  • Support incident reporting and investigations, ensuring lessons learned are shared and actions are effective.
  • Contribute to emergency preparedness activities, including drills and equipment checks.
  • Support HSE inductions, toolbox talks, briefings, and awareness initiatives for employees and contractors.

HSE Manager at atNorth

At atNorth, we build and operate critical infrastructure for the digital future. As an HSE Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring our data center campus construction site project (FIN04- 46 810 Kouvola, Finland ) operate safely, sustainably, and in full compliance with legal and ISO requirements. Working closely with site, project, and contractor teams, you will lead the practical implementation of atNorth’s HSE framework and help embed strong safety and environmental practices into daily construction activities.

Key responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and oversees the HSE Network at the FIN04 campus site, and report to the HSE Nordic Lead
  • Lead the atNorth’s HSE policies, procedures, and Integrated Management System (IMS) implementation across the full data center campus construction site project
  • Help embed strong occupational health, safety and environmental practices related to the construction activities
  • Maintain accurate site-level HSE documentation, records, and evidence to support audits and compliance
  • Support internal and external HSE audits, inspections, and site walks, including follow-up of corrective actions
  • Verify Risk Assessment and Method Statements, and ensure adequate management of change activities
  • Monitor daily site activities to verify implementation of risk controls and promote safe behaviors
  • Support incident reporting and investigations, ensuring lessons learned are shared and actions are effective
  • Contribute to emergency preparedness activities, including drills and equipment checks
  • Support HSE inductions, toolbox talks, briefings, and awareness initiatives for employees and contractors
  • Assist with contractor prequalification, inductions, and monitoring of permit-to-work and safe systems of work
  • Capture and report HSE performance data to support continuous improvement
Your profile:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Studies, Engineering, or similar, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on HSE experience, ideally from construction, industrial, or data center environments
  • Solid understanding of HSE risk management, audits, and operational safety practices
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate documentation and reports
  • Confident communicator, able to engage with employees, contractors, and site management
  • Proactive, collaborative, and comfortable working across multiple sites and stakeholders
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Finnish is an advantage
  • HSE-related certifications (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH, national OHS card) and First Aid certification are considered a plus
  • Background check is conducted to all our employees
