Job summary

Sandvik's Test Mine organisation in Tampere (Myllypuro) is seeking an Equipment Test Technician for full-time permanent work. You will oversee and coordinate rotary drill maintenance and test activities, ensuring equipment readiness for customer demonstrations and validation activities.

You will lead SAT, maintain test benches and systems, install and calibrate equipment, and develop test standards and documentation. Fluent English is required, and travel around 15% to factories and sites.

Job description

Our Test Mine organisation is looking for a Equipment Test Technician, Rotary Drills . The role is full-time, permanent and located in Tampere (Myllypuro), Finland.

Test Mine organisation is operating two testing facilities, underground Test Mine and surface Test Pit. Our task is to provide Product Lines, RTD and R&D testing facilities and support in technology development. We are continuously running wide variety development projects which range from facility development, digitalisation, mining processes and our own daily operation processes.

Your role

The Equipment Test Technician is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all rotary drill maintenance and test activities at the Tampere Test Pit. This role serves as the primary contact for equipment readiness, maintenance, and availability, ensuring rotary rigs are fully operational to support customer demonstrations, testing programs, and validation activities.

Key responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Test Operations

• Maintain rotary drill equipment, instrumentation, test benches, and test systems to ensure reliable operation at the Test Pit.
• Execute preventive maintenance, manage consumable replacement, and maintain calibration of measurement systems.
• Install, configure, and modify equipment to support evolving test requirements, ensuring all changes are validated and documented.
• Maintain proficiency in all test equipment to support testing, troubleshooting, and operational readiness.

Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)

• Lead rotary drill Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) activities, including planning, execution, and documentation.
• Ensure testing is conducted in compliance with product requirements and engineering standards.
• Coordinate with factory test teams on system and software validation activities.

Test Standards & Documentation

• Develop and maintain standards for test procedures, data documentation, and result reporting.
• Support the testing team in creating compliant procedures and test reports.

Data Acquisition & Technical Reporting

• Define measurement requirements and implement data acquisition strategies using appropriate instrumentation and sensors.
• Analyze test data and generate technical reports that document methods, results, and improvement opportunities.
• Apply testing and application expertise to identify and prioritize product enhancements.

Your background and what we find important

• Suitable technical education in engineering, a solid background in engineering (mechanical preferably), maintenance, and mining equipment operations.
• Several years working experience in off highway heavy equipment industry (preferably mining equipment) primarily in operation, maintenance, and testing.
• Experience in rotary drill operation, product support, testing, and systems integration.
• Licensed in the operation of rotary drilling machines or other multi-function mobile mining equipment.
• Ability to travel to factories and other sites as required (approximately 15%).
• Fluent written and spoken English skill is must in our working environment.
