Job summary

Sievo is seeking a Senior (Lead) Data Platform Engineer to join the Helsinki team. The role sits at the intersection of data engineering, software engineering, and platform ownership, building a central data platform for multiple products and teams.

You will design and implement architecture for scalable data pipelines, establish reliable environments, and promote strong software engineering practices. A hybrid/remote-friendly setup is available with relocation support for exceptional candidates.

Qualifications

• Proven track record building maintainable data pipelines in code.
• Experience with cloud data technologies (Databricks and Azure).
• Strong SQL and Python for processing large datasets.
• Experience with Spark and distributed processing.
• Data architecture mindset and end-to-end data flow awareness.
• Solid software engineering practices: version control, automated testing, and automation.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the Databricks infrastructure the data platform is built on.
• Set up reproducible environments and cloud resources including IAM, deployment patterns, IaC, security, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Design and build the overarching data architecture for the platform.
• Develop data pipelines with emphasis on maintainability and reliability.
• Onboard other engineering teams to the central data platform.
• Design data architectures and processing flows for other teams.
• Establish monitoring and data quality checks to ensure trustworthy data.
• Apply software engineering practices: Git, CI/CD, automated testing, production-grade code.
• Gather requirements and communicate trade-offs, delivering to production.
• Troubleshoot platform and integration issues and fix root causes.
