Key Responsibilities of the Role:



  • Primary reporting line to the Divisional Planning Manager

  • Functional reporting line to the Divisional Operations Team (as required for portfolio delivery)

  • Member of the Planning Department Management Team

  • Lead and be accountable for all planning activities within the assigned portfolio of projects, ensuring alignment with Group and Divisional standards

  • Advise and support Divisional and SBU Management Teams (including MDs, OMs, PMs, CMs and site teams) on planning strategy, performance and recovery actions

  • Assess, maintain and communicate schedule risk for the portfolio (including risk levels, drivers and mitigations), escalating material risks to the Divisional Planning Manager and Operations as appropriate

  • Implement Planning SOPs, processes, templates and minimum requirements across the assigned projects and ensure consistent application

  • Ensure appropriate planning and progress systems are established on each project, including schedule set-up, baselining, progress measurement and reporting

  • Provide technical leadership and support to project planning teams, including troubleshooting complex planning issues and driving timely resolution

  • Support recruitment and onboarding of Planning staff for the portfolio; manage, coach, train and develop planners as delegated by the Divisional Planning Manager

  • Promote schedule literacy across the Division and project teams

  • Deliver and/or coordinate planning training for Divisional leadership and project teams (including MDs, OMs, PMs, CMs and construction teams) to ensure consistent understanding of planning principles and expectations

  • Engage with Clients as required to support the business, including programme reviews, progress reporting and schedule-related communications

  • Support and advise on bids and tenders (including project selection) by developing/reviewing programmes, assumptions, resourcing and risk allowances

  • Assist in the preparation of claims and provide planning data/analysis to support contractual correspondence and dispute resolution

  • Drive best practice and continuous improvement in planning within the portfolio, contributing to Planning Department innovation initiatives

  • Provide cover for Divisional Planning Manager responsibilities when required

  • Provide cover for Senior Planner responsibilities when required

  • Travel to projects and offices as required to carry out the above duties

  • Maintain objectivity, integrity and factual reporting in all planning outputs and communications

  • Undertake additional responsibilities as part of the Planning Department Management Team subsidiary functions, as required

  • Carry out all other duties associated with the role


Essential Criteria for the Role:



  • 10+ years’ planning and project controls experience within large-scale construction, engineering, or mission-critical environments, preferably within the Data Centre sector, with proven experience supporting senior planning leadership across multiple projects.

  • Proven capability to lead planning functions on complex projects or programmes, ensuring consistent planning behaviours, schedule quality, reporting discipline, and alignment with divisional expectations

  • Advanced knowledge of Primavera P6, integrated master scheduling, baseline management, critical path analysis, EVM, DCMA principles, schedule quality assurance, and recovery planning

  • Strong understanding of Data Centre delivery from design development and procurement through CSA, MEP, commissioning, energisation, integrated systems testing, handover and close-out

  • Commercial and contractual awareness

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

  • Experience leading, mentoring and supporting planners, developing team capability, reviewing planning outputs, and promoting consistent planning standards across project teams
