Job summary

Valmet is seeking an Application Specialist in Tampere to translate process needs into automation solutions across design and commissioning. You will work with customers, process experts and project teams to deliver robust control systems and practical applications from concept to site implementation.

You will apply knowledge of automation environments, document technical details and support field activities while aligning with Valmet’s leadership principles and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Automation Engineering, Process Engineering, Energy Technology, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience with process automation, control engineering, process optimization or industrial applications.
• Experience with application engineering, configuration or programming within DCS, SCADA, PLC or similar environments.

In this role, you will work across application definition, application design and commissioning, turning process and automation expertise into practical solutions for customers. You will combine engineering, problem-solving and customer collaboration while supporting projects from concept to site implementation.

Your responsibilities

• You will translate process requirements into automation applications, defining, designing, and configuring control solutions using specialized engineering tools.
• You will collaborate with customers, process experts and project teams to ensure solutions meet operational and performance requirements.
• You will participate in site commissioning, testing and troubleshooting to ensure reliable system performance.
• You will prepare technical documentation, conduct investigations and support customer visits throughout project delivery.

Expectations for you

• You have a degree in Automation Engineering, Process Engineering, Energy Technology, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• You have experience with process automation, control engineering, process optimization or industrial applications.
• You have experience with application engineering, configuration or programming within DCS, SCADA, PLC or similar automation environments.
• You are willing to travel occasionally as part of project delivery and commissioning activities.
