3stepIT is seeking an AI Engineer to design, develop and deploy AI solutions on cloud platforms, collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate AI capabilities into existing systems. The role focuses on scalable, efficient and secure AI infrastructure and hands-on development, data engineering, and ML model training.

The ideal candidate has strong software development, data science, data engineering, and programming skills, with experience in Python, Java, NLP, and cloud services

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in AI, data science, computer science, IT or statistics.
• Master's degree preferred in data science, mathematics, cognitive science, or CS.
• Minimum 3 years in IT automation, RPA, AI, or related areas.
• Proficiency in Python and Java for AI model development.
• Strong understanding of algorithms and applied mathematics for AI models.
• Experience with NLP and generative AI frameworks.

Role: AI Engineer

Location: Helsinki / Tampere

Reporting to: Manager, Platform Automation

Job role and purpose

The AI Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying AI solutions on cloud platforms. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate AI capabilities into existing systems, creating scalable, efficient, and secure AI infrastructure.

The role involves developing, programming, and training complex AI algorithms to function like a human brain. AI Engineers must be experts in software development, data science, data engineering and programming. They uncover and pull data from a variety of sources; create, develop and test machine learning models; and build and implement AI applications using embedded code or application program interface (API) calls. This role requires occasional travel based on business needs.

Main responsibilities & tasks

AI engineers play a crucial role in developing and implementing AI based solutions. This role involves developing, programming, and training complex AI algorithms to function like a human brain. AI Engineers must be experts in software development, data science, data engineering and programming. They uncover and pull data from a variety of sources; create, develop and test machine learning models; and build and implement AI applications using embedded code or application program interface (API) calls. This role requires occasional travel based on business needs.

Key areas of responsibility include

• Designing and implementing solutions on cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) using LLMs
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement AI solutions
• Explore cutting-edge technologies for optimal design and implementation of solutions.
• Creating best practices for implementing AI solutions on cloud platforms
• Implementing data transformation and data ingestion infrastructure
• Building, maintaining and optimizing AI models
• Confirm that Security is high enough level on AI related systems

Other accountabilities & tasks

• Mentor/ help team members in field of AI

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in a field related to AI, such as data science, computer science, IT or statistics. Master's degree -- though not always required -- in such disciplines as data science, mathematics, cognitive science or computer science.
• At least 3 years in field of IT automation, RPA, AI, or relevant areas.
• Extensive knowledge of statistics, calculus or algebra to work with algorithms and an understanding of probability to interact with some of AI's most common machine learning models, including Naive Bayes, hidden Markov and Gaussian mixture models.
• Proficiency with programming languages such as Python and Java to develop and deploy AI models.
• Solid understanding of algorithms and applied mathematics to build, modify and use AI models.
• Good knowledge of NLP, which combines computer science, information engineering, linguistics and AI in one system, plus the ability to program the system to process and analyze large data sets.
• Familiarity with generative AI frameworks and architectures, such as transformers and generative adversarial networks (GANs).
• Experience with LLMs and their applications.
• Knowledge of prompt engineering and fine-tuning techniques for generative AI models.
• Understanding of potential biases and ethical considerations in AI systems.
• Proficiency in working with cloud-based AI platforms and services (Azure and AWS).
• Experience deploying secure solutions to cloud using Terraform.
• Knowledge of GenAI and Machine Learning Cloud services (Azure ML, SageMaker).
• Communication and teamwork skills are highly valued as well as ability to work independently and sometimes even under some time pressure.
• Positive attitude and desire to help others are also valued.
• Strong communication skills English. Finnish language fluency considered as a plus.
