A prestigious international university is looking for a postdoctoral fellow in Health Economics to engage in empirical research under the supervision of Professor Toni Mora. The role involves developing research independently, writing academic papers, and utilizing econometric and Machine Learning methodologies. Candidates are expected to have a Master’s degree in Economics or Statistics, with strong skills in microeconometrics, and the ability to communicate effectively in English and/or Spanish. The position is full-time and temporary for one year.

About your role
We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow in the IRAPP (Research Institute for Evaluation and Public Policies) for the project “FLASH – Flexible Approach to Support Health through Financing” Funded by the Horizon Europe Programme – Call Horizon-HLT-2022-CARE-08-04: “Better financing models for health systems” under the Gran Agreement No. 101095424 – CUPE63C22002360006, to undertake research under the supervision of Professor Toni Mora at UIC Barcelona.
Key tasks
The research fellow will autonomously develop research topics and use empirical econometric methods. A relevant research activity is a systematic review of the international literature on several aspects of Health Economics, particularly Mental Health. Further research activities also involve statistical data analysis and Machine Learning techniques.
The postdoctoral associate is expected to develop proficiency in the relevant literature in this research area, prepare first‑ and co‑authored manuscripts and research proposals, and present at professional meetings.

The UIC Barcelona selection process, as outlined in the European OTM‑R, will be carried out in two phases: a first pre‑selection phase and a second interview phase. The project PI will be tasked with carrying out the initial evaluation and the subsequent interview. He might partner with other experts, both inside and outside UIC Barcelona, to complete the two phases of the selection process.
