Opdenergy is a growing independent renewable energy producer (IPP) with presence in Europe, United States and Latin America with more than 19 years’ experience. The company develops, builds, finances, manages and operates high quality renewable energy projects in several countries, with a portfolio of 2.6 GW (1.3 operational and + 1.3 ready to build / under construction) assets in operations and construction, whole portfolio under development sums up to over 18 GW.

We are seeking a Senior Project Developer to lead and manage the permitting processes for solar (PV), wind, and battery energy storage (BESS) projects from greenfield to ready-to-build (RTB) status. This role will focus on securing all necessary approvals, ensuring regulatory compliance, and engaging with stakeholders to facilitate project advancement. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in permitting, strong regulatory knowledge, and the ability to navigate complex approval processes to ensure timely project execution.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead and manage the permitting process for renewable energy projects, ensuring compliance with all local, regional, and national regulations.
  • Identify, track, and secure all necessary permits, approvals, and authorizations required to advance projects to RTB status.
  • Oversee the full permitting lifecycle, ensuring timely submission, follow-up, and resolution of regulatory requirements.
  • Engage with public and private entities, including regulatory agencies, municipalities, and environmental authorities, to facilitate permitting approvals.
  • Coordinate and supervise environmental and technical studies (e.g., Environmental Impact Assessments, land use evaluations) to support permit applications.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including construction, grid connection, and legal departments, to align permitting activities with overall project goals.
  • Negotiate agreements related to land use, environmental mitigation, and other project requirements, in collaboration with the legal team.
  • Monitor regulatory and policy changes, assessing potential impacts on project permitting strategies and timelines.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate permitting risks, ensuring that project schedules and development goals remain on track.
  • Support due diligence processes by providing permitting documentation and risk assessments for project transactions or sales.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Law, or a related field (Engineering degree preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in permitting and regulatory compliance for renewable energy projects.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations, land-use policies, and permitting frameworks for PV, wind, and BESS projects.
  • Proven experience managing complex permitting processes and engaging with regulatory bodies and stakeholders.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills, with experience in contract negotiations and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to project sites and regulatory meetings.
