Job summary

Julius Baer is seeking a Technical Product Owner for the Test Automation Platform to guide development teams in delivering high-quality software. You will own the product vision, backlog, and roadmap, while contributing hands-on to design, implementation, and platform operations.

Based in Madrid, you will collaborate with a small platform team and drive API-first capabilities, testing-as-code, and strong developer experience across the bank's global engineering platforms.

Qualifications

• Experience combining product ownership with technical leadership.
• Strong software or platform engineering background (Java/TypeScript).
• Hands-on testing experience with Playwright, k6, Selenium, or similar.
• Experience integrating testing solutions with CI/CD and Jira is advantageous.
• Knowledge of APIs, automation, cloud-native tech, and modern engineering practices.

We are looking for a Technical Product Owner - Test Automation Platform to own and evolve a platform that enables development teams across the bank to deliver high-quality software faster and with greater confidence. This role combines product ownership and hands-on engineering.

Working in a small team with three platform engineers, you will collaboratively define the product direction, prioritize development based on user value, guide technical decisions, and actively contribute to solution design and implementation.

YOUR CHALLENGE

Own the product vision, roadmap, and backlog for the bank's global test automation platform. Lead the platform lifecycle from discovery and design to delivery, operation, and continuous improvement. Work closely with development teams to understand their needs and translate them into valuable platform capabilities. Advance testing-as-code through an API-first platform with seamless CI/CD integration. Provide technical leadership and guide architecture, technology choices, and engineering practices. Contribute hands-on to implementation, code reviews, troubleshooting, and platform operations. Champion developer experience and drive self-service capabilities for test data generation, test execution, and reporting. Track platform adoption, reliability, usability, and developer satisfaction.

YOUR PROFILE

• Experience in a role combining product ownership with technical leadership, such as Technical Product Owner, Tech Lead, Lead Engineer, or Senior Platform Engineer.
• Strong software or platform engineering background, ideally with Java, TypeScript, or comparable technologies.
• Experience building, operating, or extending test automation solutions, engineering platforms, or developer tooling.
• Hands-on experience with performance, functional, or end-to-end testing and tools such as Playwright, k6, Selenium, or similar.
• Experience integrating testing solutions with CI/CD platforms, particularly GitLab and integrating test results with reporting or ticketing platforms such as Jira is an advantage.
• Knowledge of APIs, automation, cloud-native technologies, and modern software engineering practices.
