Airbus Crisa in Tres Cantos (Madrid area) seeks a Project System Engineer to lead the electronic unit design for space systems from negotiation to in-flight operations.

You will work with FPGA, Mechanical, Thermal, Validation, and EEE teams, shaping architecture and ensuring design for testing and manufacturing. Strong communication and English/Spanish skills are essential.

Formación

• Master's degree in engineering or science.
• 5+ years of experience in the development of Electronic Units.
• Experience in the Space Sector is highly recommended.
• English and Spanish must be negotiation-level, both written and spoken.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills (internal/external).

Responsabilidades

• Lead technical discussions with the customer during the Negotiation Phase.
• Assist the Project Manager in requirement assessment and risk identification.
• Define the architecture of the Electronic Unit with cross-functional engineers.
• Flow-down project requirements to modules while maintaining design rules.
• Collaborate with Validation to optimize flight unit and ground designs for testing.
• Assist with characterization and acceptance tests at unit level with Validation.
• Coordinate with Industrialization for manufacturing-aligned requirements.
• Lead technical issue resolution under quality and programmatic rules.
• Document designs in Design Descriptions and Analysis reports for reviews.
• Monitor deviations and evolutions during the project lifecycle.
• Chair Design Reviews across functions of the Electronic Unit.
• Maintain customer orientation with proactive design support.

Project System Engineer – Airbus CRISA

Job Description: A position of Project System Engineer is now open in Airbus CRISA (Airbus Defense & Space) in Tres Cantos (Madrid area) for different Space business: Launchers, Earth Exploration (Copernicus), Space Exploration (Artemis), Commercial (Telecommunications Satellites).

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical discussions with the customer during the Negotiation Phase, prior to formal kick-off of the project up to the in-flight operations of the Space System.
• Assist the Project Manager in the requirement assessment and in the risk identification.
• Define the architecture of the Electronic Unit based on the project requirements in close co-engineering with other stakeholders (FPGA, Mechanical, Thermal, Validation, Materials and Processes, EEE, Radiation).
• Perform the flow-down of the project requirements to each module or function by keeping uniformity on design rules.
• Work closely with the Validation Manager to optimize both the Flight Unit and the Ground Equipment designs focusing on a Design for Testing philosophy.
• Be implicated in the characterization and acceptance tests both at function/module level (lead by designers) and unit level, in collaboration with the Validation Manager.
• Collaborate with the Industrialization Team to agree the unit requirements based on Design for Manufacturing rules and deliver on time.
• Lead technical issues resolution, in strong collaboration with experts as necessary under quality and programmatic rules.
• Document and report the design in different documents (Design Description, Worst Case Analysis Summary, Failure Mode Analysis, Part Stress Analysis, Reliability Analysis) to provide design robustness against the different stakeholders during the different project milestones (Requirement Review, Preliminary and Architecture Review, Critical Design Review).
• During the recurrent phase of the project, ensure close monitoring of any deviation, evolution and/or discrepancy from the agreed design.
• Act as chairman in the Design Reviews of the different functions of the Electronic Unit.
• Maintain customer orientation, building a trust relationship based on proactive and continuous support to show confidence in the design.

Required Qualifications

• Master degree level (or equivalent) in engineering or science discipline.
• At least five years of experience in the development of Electronic Units.
• Experience in the Space Sector (highly recommended).
• English and Spanish must be negotiation-level, both written and spoken.
• Technical excellence and technical challenge spirit.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills (both internal and external).
• Customer oriented.
• Strong team working and cooperation spirit to motivate the project team.
• Capability to propose practical solutions; constructive and innovative mindset to propose efficient solutions and committing way forward.
• Independent and autonomous way of working.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience on Power, Analog electronics or Digital design.
• Knowledge of space environment constraints and European space regulations, ESCC, SMD, etc.
• Digital mindset (automation of tasks, scripting, use of digital design tools and simulators).
• Familiar with Agile Methodologies.
• Good knowledge of design methodologies for space application and tools (Mentor, LTSPice, Matlab, SIMetrix-SIMPLIS) considered a plus.
