Lloyd's Register in Bilbao, Spain, seeks a Surveyor/Senior Surveyor to perform survey work on existing vessels and materials across North Spain. The role requires project management, technical leadership, and adherence to LR standards.

Occasional cross-border coverage is possible as the business needs evolve. The role offers a full-time permanent position with opportunities to advance within LR’s established quality and ethics framework.

Formación

• A degree or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution in engineering or physical science (minimum two years).
• Marine or nautical qualifications with sea-going experience are acceptable.
• Membership in a professional engineering body is required.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards it).
• Adherence to professional codes of conduct and LR Ethics is essential.
• Experience with verification, product/rule development, and project management within budgets/timescales.

Responsabilidades

• Conduct survey activities in own area of expertise and provide service delivery advice.
• Manage projects and ensure deliverables meet schedule, budget, and quality.
• Present deliverables to clients and discuss solutions as needed.
• Follow internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
• Pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain knowledge.
• Assess time/value of work for external clients and help shape fee structure.
• Contribute to external client management to improve service delivery.

What we are looking for

stylemargin:bottom:0.0cm;margin:top:0.0px: : This position is based in North Spain, and covers the relevant activities in that area for Existing vessels, New Construction, Materials and components. Occasional work outside of this area is also expected to cover business needs. The role is primarily dealing with the survey of Existing vessels and Materials and components activities and will be appointed at Surveyor or Senior Surveyor grade depending on experience and skills.

The Role

• As a surveyor you will conduct relevant activities, undertake project management and provide advice for service delivery within own area of experience, adhering to budget constraints and contractual requirements.
• Produce the deliverable to the agreed schedule, budget and quality levels within an appropriate format and take responsibility to review and monitor other employee's work as requested.
• Discuss and present the deliverable with the internal / external client and be able to suggest solutions as necessary.
• Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
• Pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge and awareness.
• Assess or recommend the time and value of the work to be undertaken for an external client and to assist in identifying the most appropriate fee and cost structure.
• Contribute to external client management; ensuring service delivery is continually improved through monitoring and acting on client feedback appropriately.
• Ensure the appropriate authorisations are gained and are kept up to date. This may involve Activity Monitoring.

What you bring Technical / Professional Qualifications / Requirements

• A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd's Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum of two years programme) or Qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea:going experience as a certificated ship's officer.
• Membership of an appropriate professional institution.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards)
• To work in accordance with professional codes of conduct and the LR Code of Ethics
• Previous experience of verification processes, product and rule development and project management with experience of delivering technical services and products within defined budgets and timescales.
• To be able to use a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to optimise the application of existing and emerging technology.
• To be able appropriate theoretical and practical methods to analyse and solve engineering problems.
• To provide technical and commercial leadership within the responsibilities assigned.
• To demonstrate effective interpersonal skills including communication in English at all levels.
