Job summary

Munich Re Specialty – Global Markets is seeking a Broker Relationship Manager based in Madrid. The role focuses on managing broker relationships, developing customer strategies, and coordinating with underwriting teams to grow profitable business across Spain and Portugal.

The candidate will lead key negotiations, tailor sales pitches, and drive growth while upholding Conduct standards and fostering a collaborative, inclusive environment. Fluency in Spanish, Catalan, and English is required.

Qualifications

• Experience managing cross-departmental projects and coordinating diverse stakeholders.
• +5 years of professional experience in similar functions.
• Strong knowledge of primary insurance and reinsurance; underwriting know-how across lines.
• Excellent data analytics and ability to interpret performance metrics.
• Understanding of marketing and sales concepts; translate analyses into sales pitches.
• Strong presentation skills for external customers and brokers.
• High energy for innovation, creativity, initiative and entrepreneurship.
• Exceptional negotiation abilities with internal and external parties.
• Motivated team player with leadership potential.
• Fluent business communication in Spanish, Catalan and English.

Responsibilities

• Managing all customers and brokers relationships and defining customer strategy with underwriting teams.
• Developing understanding of broker needs and growth opportunities within Spain/Portugal.
• Defining and implementing customer-specific sales strategies and preparing pitch books.
• Leading negotiations with customers and brokers and coordinating renewal strategies with underwriting teams.
• Building and managing relationships with stakeholders across units.
• Identifying growth areas and developing new business opportunities with profitability in mind.
• Advancing conduct and ethics to deliver best outcomes for customers and policyholders.
• Promoting a professional, inclusive work environment and addressing misconduct.
• Maintaining high standards of professional conduct for self and team.
