Ersilia, a German tech consultancy operating 100% remotely from Spain, seeks a Senior System Administrator for Backup & Recovery. You’ll own backup, disaster recovery, and data protection across a global infrastructure, work with Veeam, SQL Server, and VMware, and communicate daily in English.

Some travel to Jerez may be required. Permanent, full-time role with a strong emphasis on security, hardening, and scalable recovery strategies.

German tech consultancy — 100% remote from Spain

To save you the read: if you're not strong in Veeam and Microsoft SQL Server, or you're not comfortable working in English every day, this one isn't for you. If all three are part of your daily work, keep reading.

There are days in the year when the whole business depends on the backups having been done properly. We're looking for the person who makes sure those days pass without incident: a Senior System Administrator – Backup & Recovery to join a growing tech consultancy with its own product, international clients and more than 15 years behind it. You'll work alongside another senior profile, in a hybrid and distributed environment, with real technical ownership from day one.

Veeam Microsoft SQL Server VMware Windows Server Linux Active Directory / AD tiering Disaster Recovery 10+ years

Location: Remote from anywhere in Spain, with occasional travel to our office in Jerez de la Frontera (good rail or air connections are a plus).
Contract: Permanent, full-time from day one.
Salary: €40,000 – €50,000 gross per year, depending on experience.

What you'll do

• Operate, secure and continuously evolve the global backup, recovery and archiving infrastructure using Veeam Backup & Replication.

• Administer and protect Microsoft SQL Server databases in distributed and clustered environments: backups, point-in-time restores and high availability.

• Administer servers and operating systems: deployments, updates, hardening and maintenance.

• Monitor backup execution, analyse incidents and perform data recovery when required.

• Define and manage data retention, compliance and protection policies.

• Plan, execute and document Disaster Recovery tests (on-premise and cloud), including stakeholder reporting.

• Secure the backup environment: dedicated systems, non-domain-joined servers and a reduced attack surface.

• Administer VMware environments and contribute to datacenter operations, domain management and patching.

• Implement AD tiering, PAWs and hardening of Windows and Linux systems.

What we're looking for

• More than 10 years of experience in system administration.

• Solid, demonstrable experience with Veeam Backup & Replication in hybrid and distributed environments.

• Strong Microsoft SQL Server skills: administration, backup and restore, and experience in distributed or clustered environments (Always On, Failover Cluster).

• Experience with critical infrastructure, data protection and high-security environments.

• Command of Active Directory tiering and hardening of Windows and Linux systems.

• Experience in virtualisation, particularly VMware.

• An analytical, methodical and structured way of working.

• Fluent English (mandatory): it's the working language day to day, with the team and with the German parent company. German is a plus.

• Availability for occasional travel to the Jerez office (onboarding … wow something..???)
