Monzo is hiring a Staff Data Scientist to help build the bank of the future. This senior individual contributor role combines deep technical expertise with commercial judgement to tackle Monzo’s most important challenges. The role can be based in London or Barcelona, with distributed UK options.

You’ll lead data strategies, work with product, ML, design and risk teams, and coach others while applying measurement and experimentation best practices.

• Exceptional track record of leading complex, business-critical data science work from problem framing to measurable outcomes.
• Shaped strategy across a large product or business domain and influenced senior leaders with clear judgement.
• Deep expertise across several data science disciplines and setting the technical direction for work with significant complexity.
• Communicate complex ideas with clarity and maintain high standards for analytical quality, governance and reproducibility.
• Hands-on with SQL and Python while raising standards and multiplying impact of teams.

Responsabilidades

• Shape and lead the data strategy for a large domain or collective, connecting customer and commercial goals to a portfolio of high-impact Data Science work
• Identify, frame and lead strategically important problems where dependencies span teams and decisions involve trade-offs
• Partner with senior leaders across product, engineering, ML, design, research, risk and operations, bringing an independent technical perspective
• Establish measurement strategies and metric maps linking customer behaviour and business outcomes to enable rapid testing
• Set and evolve best practices for experimentation, causal inference, forecasting, optimisation and decision science
• Remain hands-on exploring data, designing analyses and experiments, building models or prototypes
• Steward data products end-to-end with governance and clear adoption
• Balance pace with analytical rigour to ensure reproducibility and quality
• Raise Data Science standards across Monzo through direction, reviews and reusable methods
• Coach and mentor data scientists and analytics engineers to build sustainable capability
