Job summary

Costa Navarino is seeking a professional Sommelier to join our team in Messinia, offering knowledgeable wine service and thoughtful pairings that elevate dining experiences.

You will present wines, guide guests through our wine list, support wine operations across outlets, and contribute ideas for new labels and promotions while maintaining stock and cost awareness. English required; Greek language is an asset.

Qualifications

• Relevant previous experience as a Sommelier or in wine service in upscale restaurant.
• Strong knowledge of wines, wine service and food pairing.
• WSET Level 3 or CMS qualification will be considered an asset.
• Good command of English; knowledge of Greek is an advantage.
• Knowledge of POS and inventory management systems.
• Strong selling, upselling and guest-engagement skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

• Present and serve wines in accordance with established service standards.
• Recommend wines and food pairings based on guest preferences, menus and available selections.
• Support the ordering, receiving, storage and organization of wines across assigned outlets.
• Monitor wine stock and costs and communicate replenishment needs or variances to the Head Sommelier.
• Maintain accurate wine-list information and contribute ideas for new labels, pairings and promotions.
• Prepare the required mise en place and ensure wine-service equipment is properly handled, cleaned and stored.
• Promote wine sales through knowledgeable recommendations and responsible upselling.
• Respond professionally to guest inquiries and concerns, ensuring a high level of service.
• Support the team in developing wine and product knowledge when required.

• Strong knowledge of wines, wine service and food pairing.
• WSET Level 3, Court of Master Sommeliers qualification or a comparable recognized wine certification will be considered an asset.
• Good command of English; knowledge of Greek will be considered an advantage.
• Knowledge of POS and inventory management systems.
• Strong selling, upselling and guest-engagement skills.
• Basic knowledge of wine purchasing, pricing and cost control.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to remain composed and effective during busy service periods.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
