Job summary

Sompo International in Spain seeks a Senior Underwriter Engineering & Construction for Iberia, based in Madrid or Barcelona. You will help grow a profitable Engineering & Construction portfolio across infrastructure, renewable energy, manufacturing, and large projects.

This role reports to the Head of Property, Energy and Construction - Iberia and requires deep technical underwriting expertise, strong negotiation and relationship skills, and fluency in Spanish and English; willingness to travel

Qualifications

10+ years of underwriting experience in Engineering insurance.
Deep expertise in large and complex Engineering risks.
Fluency in Spanish and English.
Willingness to travel nationally and internationally.
Strong network within the Iberia broker and risk manager community.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute Iberia market strategy for Engineering (CAR/EAR) across power, renewable energy, infrastructure and construction sectors.
Analyse technical risk information and determine coverage, terms and pricing.
Negotiate insurance conditions with brokers and clients.
Oversee underwriting quality, governance, and portfolio balance across risk segments and industries.
