Job summary

Siemens Mobility in Madrid seeks a Senior Traction Control Engineer to advance next‑generation traction systems for rolling stock. You will define, develop, and validate control strategies to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable train operation, collaborating with propulsion, TCMS, and vehicle control teams.

You will drive the full lifecycle from requirements to testing and commissioning, validate performance, and develop simulation models to support engineering decisions.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Control Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Solid experience in traction control, rail propulsion systems, or power electronics.
• Understanding of traction converters, electrical machines, drive control systems, and vehicle dynamics.
• Ability to translate complex system requirements into control strategies and software specs.
• Strong analytical skills and a structured engineering mindset.
• Fluency in English (C1) and ability to work in international, multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of traction control functions to optimize performance, energy efficiency, and comfort.
• Shape robust traction control architectures by translating requirements and collaborating with cross-functional experts.
• Drive the full development lifecycle from requirements and design through testing and commissioning.
• Validate and optimize system performance, analyze machines and converter operation to meet standards.
• Develop advanced simulation models to validate control strategies and support troubleshooting.
• Collaborate across propulsion, TCMS, and vehicle control for seamless integration.
