Job summary

ABB Traction Division in Spain seeks a Control Software Engineer to strengthen our multi-disciplinary team. You will develop traction application software for vehicles and assist with commissioning and homologation on site.

The role requires 4+ years in real-time SW development for closed-loop control, IEC 61131-3 (CODESYS), MATLAB/Simulink, and CAN/fieldbus knowledge. Travel and on-site support are expected.

Qualifications

• University degree in Control Systems, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, CS or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years' experience in SW development for closed-loop control, signal processing, algorithms, RT programming, commissioning.
• Experience with IEC 61131-3 languages (CODESYS) and Matlab Simulink.
• Knowledge of SW Versioning tools (SVN, Git).
• Broad knowledge of converter control, power electronics or automotive.
• Experience with CAN and fieldbus protocols (CAN, TRDP, J1939, MVB, ...).
• Nice-to-have EN 50657, EN 50128 or ISO 26262 understanding.
• Strong English and Spanish communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-level SW troubleshooting at customer site and analyze data.
• Adapt and extend existing software to meet customer needs while following standards.
• Test and troubleshoot software across diverse environments and assist commissioning.
• Travel extensively for on-site support and homologation activities.
• Coordinate technical solutions with peers to maximize reuse and standardization.
• Support continuous learning and collaboration within the team.
