Job summary

Siemens Mobility, S.L.U. in Madrid is seeking a System Engineer (m/f/d) for Brake Systems in rail vehicles.

You will own the brake system lifecycle from concept to warranty, serving as the technical focal point for project management, purchasing, customers and other engineering units. The role requires a Master’s or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics, extensive brake systems experience, strong knowledge of braking architecture, and excellent English; occasional travel to partner

Qualifications

• Master’s or Diploma degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics.
• Extensive professional experience with brake systems for rail vehicles.
• Strong knowledge of braking system architecture, IBS basics, quality assurance and product safety.
• Deep understanding of requirements, approval processes, and standards for braking systems in rail sector.
• Excellent English skills for international collaboration; other languages a plus.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to partner sites, suppliers, and customers.

Responsibilities

• Take full engineering responsibility for brake systems, acting as the technical point of contact for project management, purchasing, customers, and other engineering units.
• Analyze customer and regulatory requirements to develop project-specific brake concepts for the subsystem brake and air supply.
• Prepare decision templates for supplier selection, considering cost, technology, and compliance.
• Implement solutions in collaboration with suppliers and internal engineering teams.
• Define test specifications, evaluate results, and prepare approval documentation.
• Oversee technical quality gates for engineering and suppliers throughout the development process.
