Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Madrid seeks a senior systems engineer to lead operations for the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC). You will help build and run high-availability services, automate deployments, and collaborate with global teams to deliver secure EU-centric infrastructure such as EC2, S3, and Bedrock.

This role requires deep Linux, networking and scripting expertise, and comfort with on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• National of an EU member state and residing in the EU.
• Deep systems engineering across hardware, software, networking and OS.
• Proficient scripting in Bash, Python or Ruby.
• Expertise in Linux with diagnostics, high availability and performance tuning.
• Experience creating and improving SOPs and leading cross-functional work.

Responsibilities

• Oversee ESC launch and drive operational excellence.
• Collaborate with global AWS teams to improve availability, latency and efficiency.
• Lead day-to-day operations and automation for EU customers.
• Mentor engineers and guide cross-functional initiatives.
