Arup in Madrid is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead complex infrastructure design, take technical ownership of allocated elements, and deliver high-quality solutions across Spain and beyond.

You will collaborate with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams, perform advanced structural analyses, produce calculations and reports, and mentor junior colleagues to foster a collaborative culture.

Formación

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• 8-10 years of experience in structural design on infrastructure projects in Spain or Europe.
• Daily use of Eurocodes.
• Extensive experience with structural and numerical analysis software.
• Strong planning, organisation and time management.
• Experience coordinating BIM and digital workflows.
• Sofistik knowledge is a plus.
• Ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficient in Spanish and English; other languages welcome.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Structural Engineer who is passionate about challenging design problems and has a strong interest in innovation, optimisation and high‑quality delivery.

As a Senior Structural Engineer at Arup, you will:

• Lead and deliver structural design packages for complex infrastructure projects taking technical ownership of allocated elements.
• Work closely with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated, high‑quality engineering solutions.
• Perform advanced structural and numerical analyses, producing calculations, drawings, specifications, and clear technical reports.
• Manage allocated work packages across multiple projects and proposals, ensuring technical quality, consistency, and timely delivery.
• Support, mentor, and technically guide junior colleagues, contributing to a collaborative and inclusive team culture.

Contribute to technical excellence, digital innovation, and knowledge sharing within Arup’s global structural and bridges and civil structures community.

Does this role inspire you?

We value:

• A Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or an equivalent discipline.
• 8-10 years’ experience in structural design on medium to large-scale infrastructure projects in Spain or across Europe, including underground structures.
• Experience in using Eurocodes on a daily basis.
• Strong experience in structural and numerical analysis using industry‑standard software.
• Solid engineering judgement with excellent planning, organisational, and time‑management skills.
• Strong interest indigital engineering and BIM, including the ability to coordinate BIM and digital workflows for modelling and drawing delivery.
• Knowledge of Sofistik would be a significant advantage.
• Proven ability to work effectively in collaborative, multidisciplinary teams.
• Advanced Spanish and English language is a must, other capabilities such as German, Italian are more than welcome.
