Elastic is seeking a Senior Security Research Engineer to lead innovation in endpoint protections for Elastic Defend. You will design, implement, and evolve features that secure users against evolving threats, collaborating with researchers, data scientists, and engineers across the globe.

You will find and fix attacker techniques, extend telemetry, and ship high-performance C/C++ code across millions of endpoints. Join a team that values mentorship, curiosity, and cutting-edge security research.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience analyzing attacker TTPs and building detection methods.
• 6+ years of development experience in C, C++, and Python.
• Deep OS internals knowledge, Windows depth preferred.
• Reverse engineering and malware analysis experience.
• Adversarial mindset to anticipate evasion and harden protections.
• Collaborative mentality and eagerness to learn new skills.
• Proven ability to use AI to accelerate development and optimize code.
• Autonomous, distributed-team work with clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Research attacker techniques and translate into protections.
• Extend endpoint visibility across Windows, macOS, Linux.
• Develop production C/C++ code for millions of endpoints.
• Reverse engineer malware and study evasion.
• Own efficacy end to end with telemetry review and mitigation strategies.
• Extend protection parity across platforms and architectures.
• Collaborate across Elastic Security with cross-country teams.
• Lead technical direction and mentor engineers.
• Publish and present research findings.
