commercetools in Valencia is seeking a Senior Search Engineer to join the Discovery Team, building the retrieval layer behind product discovery and providing a scalable search API for enterprise catalogs. You will work across layers from query understanding to vector indexing and cost of a single query.

You will design and implement search functionalities in a PaaS ecommerce Scala backend, combining lexical, semantic, and hybrid retrieval, and you will maintain search infrastructure as code on

Formación

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience with production JVM backends.
• Strong knowledge of REST APIs and scalable architectures.
• Experience with Scala and functional programming is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Design and implement search functionalities in a JVM backend.
• Develop lexical, semantic, and hybrid retrieval.
• Build search-related libraries with ElasticSearch and MongoDB.
• Contribute to search relevance and QA metrics.
• Operate a multi-tenant SaaS on Kubernetes with IaC (Terraform).
• Participate in on-call rotations with a distributed team.
