Dow Jones & Co. is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer for the Barcelona area to design and operate scalable search and personalization systems.

You will work at the intersection of backend engineering, data, and applied AI, shaping content discovery and user engagement in a high-traffic environment. You will drive model development, experimentation, and deployment, leveraging embeddings, two-tower architectures, and LLMs to elevate search quality.

Formación

• 2–4 years of industry ML experience with focus on recommender, search, ranking or personalization.
• Strong proficiency in Python for production ML systems.
• Experience with A/B testing and experimentation frameworks.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerized environments.
• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Degree in computer science, machine learning, statistics, or equivalent work experience.

Responsabilidades

• Design, build, and operate search systems powering content discovery and engagement.
• Develop and improve ML models across the personalization stack from candidate generation to ranking.
• Improve candidate retrieval using embeddings, two-tower architectures and user/content signals.
• Drive experimentation and A/B testing to measure impact and iterate.
• Leverage LLMs to enhance content understanding and feature extraction.
• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and analysts to translate business needs into scalable solutions.
• Contribute to engineering best practices including testing, observability, and CI/CD.

In this role you will design and operate scalable search and personalization systems to deliver highly relevant experiences to millions of readers. You’ll work at the intersection of backend engineering, data, and applied AI within the Search team in Barcelona, shaping content discovery and user engagement. You’ll drive model development, experimentation, and deployment while collaborating with product and data teams to turn business needs into scalable, high-performance solutions. This is an opportunity to leverage embeddings, two-tower architectures, and LLMs to elevate search quality in a high-traffic environment.
