Monzo is recruiting a Senior Risk & Compliance Officer for its Spain branch in Barcelona. You will implement the Risk Management Framework in Spain, monitor operational and conduct risks, and support regulatory engagements with Banco de España. The role sits in the 2LOD with reporting to EU risk leaders and the Spain Branch Manager.

You will lead local governance, dashboards, risk reporting and training to embed a strong compliance culture across Spanish operations.

Formación

• Minimum 7 years of experience in Risk Management, Compliance or Internal Audit within a regulated retail bank, fintech or equivalent.
• Deep understanding of Banco de España regulations and wider EBA/ECB requirements (CRD V, PSD2/3, GDPR, DORA, AML/CFT).
• Native or bilingual Spanish with excellent professional proficiency in English.
• Self-starter with ability to challenge senior executives in a matrix structure.

Responsabilidades

• Act as the primary 2LOD contact for the Spanish branch, embedding risk and compliance culture.
• Monitor local regulatory updates from Banco de España and integrate into procedures.
• Develop, maintain and report against the Branch Risk Appetite Statement (RAS).
• Provide 2LOD oversight for ICT, Cybersecurity and Data Privacy per DORA and local frameworks.
• Deputy MLRO for Spain; oversee AML/CFT compliance and regulatory interactions.
