An established international energy business is seeking an exceptional senior commercial professional to play a pivotal role in driving its European battery strategy.
With significant ambitions across the energy storage and flexibility markets, this is a strategically important appointment offering the opportunity to shape the development and growth of a substantial battery portfolio across key European markets, particularly Germany, Spain and Italy.
The business is looking beyond traditional portfolio management. It wants to attract one of the strongest commercial and strategic profiles in the battery market: an individual with the judgement, experience and commercial acumen to identify major opportunities, evaluate complex transactions and influence how the business invests in, structures and commercialises battery assets.
Working closely with senior stakeholders across Trading, Origination, Investment and Asset Management, you will have significant influence over the direction of the battery portfolio and the commercial decisions underpinning its growth.
This is an opportunity for someone who understands both the strategic potential and commercial realities of battery storage, and who wants to play a meaningful role in shaping how a major European energy business competes in this rapidly evolving market.
Key Responsibilities
- European Battery Strategy: Play a leading role in developing and executing the business's battery strategy, identifying priority markets, commercial opportunities and routes to growth.
- Investment & Deal Evaluation: Lead the commercial evaluation of battery opportunities, assessing asset economics, investment cases, risk-adjusted returns and long-term value.
- Tolling & Commercial Structuring: Evaluate, negotiate and structure sophisticated tolling agreements, optimisation contracts, revenue-sharing arrangements and other asset-backed commercial agreements.
- Portfolio Development: Identify and secure opportunities with battery developers, IPPs, utilities, investors and independent asset owners.
- Risk Management: Assess merchant exposure, market volatility, revenue uncertainty and contractual risk, making informed decisions on the commercial attractiveness of different opportunities.
- Market Development: Evaluate opportunities across Germany, Spain, Italy and wider European markets, understanding market fundamentals, regulatory developments and emerging revenue streams.
- Strategic Relationships: Develop relationships with key industry stakeholders, asset owners, developers and investors to establish a strong pipeline of opportunities.
- Commercial Influence: Work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to influence investment decisions, commercial priorities and the wider direction of the battery business.
- Value Creation: Identify opportunities to maximise asset value through innovative commercial structures, portfolio optimisation and new routes to market.
