Job summary

Airswift is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to oversee rotating and packaged equipment on a major oil and gas project in Madrid. You will lead technical integrity, safety, and quality delivery across FEED through start-up, coordinating with EPC/PMC teams and vendors. Extensive experience with rotating machinery, international codes, and risk assessments is required.

Spanish site with global scope; senior leadership and mentoring are essential for successful handover and project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 12 years across FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up.
• Minimum 8 years in oil and gas.
• Minimum 5 years in a related discipline or specialty position.
• Experience on EPC and PMC phases of major capital projects.
• Experience in oil and gas, petrochemicals and refining, LNG facilities, power plants, or large infrastructure/projects.
• Strong knowledge of rotating machinery design, operation, and maintenance.
• Proficiency in ASME, API, ASTM, ISO, and other international mechanical design codes.
• Familiarity with API 610 for pumps and API 617 for compressors.
• Prepare/review/update mechanical equipment specifications and datasheets.
• Review P&IDs, datasheets, vendor drawings, hook-up drawings, loop diagrams, instrument indexes, and reports.
• Manage equipment packages and review vendor docs for compliance.
• Support hazard/risk assessments including HAZID/HAZOP/LOPA/QRA/FMEA/Bow-tie analyses.
• Process Safety Management knowledge and integration of safety systems.
• Monitor EPC contractor deliverables, quality, and compliance.
• Strong leadership and mentoring capability.
