Job summary

AXA XL in Madrid seeks a Senior Underwriter Marine Cargo to write new and renewal business, engage brokers and clients, and support portfolio growth in line with the business plan.

Responsibilities include risk assessment, pricing, client advisement, cross-selling, and governance of account implementation; report to the Iberia Marine & Aviation Manager with a focus on profitability and growth.

Qualifications

• University Degree and knowledge in maritime industry will be highly considerated.
• Proficiency in English and Spanish is required; other languages are a plus.
• Knowledge of Insurance industry fundamentals and marine/cargo underwriting experience.

Responsibilities

• Review submissions and risk documents to determine account risk.
• Compute risk premium considering costs, reinsurance, and admin expenses for profitability.
• Advise and service brokers/clients on insurance needs and risk management.
• Manage relationships to enable cross-selling and account retention.
• Ensure timely implementation of new and renewed accounts in line with standards.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and monitor premium income within limits.
• Monitor claims awareness and contribute to settlement input.
