Job summary

American Express in Madrid seeks a Senior Manager of Financial Risk Management to establish the second line of defense for AEESA & AEPE markets. Lead risk identification, assessment and reporting, strengthen governance, and partner with LE leadership and regulators.

The role requires regulatory familiarity, strong leadership, and the ability to drive enterprise risk programs across Spanish entities while balancing business priorities and growth.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of leadership experience in risk management or a similar role.
• Strong business acumen with a risk-reward control perspective.
• Experience interacting with regulators and familiarity with Spanish and European regulatory landscape.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
• Fluency in English (verbal and written).
• Advanced degree in business, economics, engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in RAF refresh to align LE metrics with Enterprise framework.
• Provide financial risk challenge to LE projects, strategies and forums.
• Understand and communicate LE Financial Risk profiles through data/reporting.
• Serve as main point of contact for LE Financial Risk with regulators, audits and LE leadership.
• Represent LE at board meetings for Financial Risk oversight as needed.
• Own LE Financial Risk policies and contribute to Enterprise risk programs.
• Advise on applicability and execution of Financial Risk frameworks.
• Coordinate with Enterprise on 2nd Line testing and LE risk outputs.
• Communicate risks between LE and Enterprise effectively.
• Support the LE CRO in risk governance, oversight, and policy adherence.
• Lead a Financial Risk analyst.
