Job summary

Grafana Labs is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for the Frontend to lead the Frontend Platform and Navigation squads. You will oversee performance, delivery, and customer outcomes, coaching senior engineers and partnering with Product and Design.

You’ll shape roadmaps, drive AI-enabled workflows, and champion a cloud-first, security-conscious engineering culture in a fully remote, globally distributed team.

Qualifications

• Significant experience managing senior engineers and building healthy teams.
• Strong technical foundation in modern web/frontend systems to evaluate trade-offs.
• Track record turning ambiguous cross-team problems into clear priorities and measurable results.
• Excellent written communication and ability to work in a remote, globally distributed organisation.
• Practical experience using AI and automation in leadership work.

Responsibilities

• Be accountable for the performance of two distributed engineering squads, setting expectations and coaching team members.
• Own hiring and team planning across both squads, aligning capacity with priorities.
• Lead discovery with customers, community members and internal users to shape roadmaps.
• Partner with Product, Design and engineering leaders to set priorities and resolve dependencies.
• Own delivery from discovery through rollout and measurement, flagging risks early.
• Use AI regularly to inform roadmap decisions and streamline coordination.
• Improve planning and delivery by adopting AI/automation across workflows.
• Set engineering direction for frontend foundations, including DX, accessibility and architecture.
• Set engineering direction for navigation, search and resource organisation.
• Lead improvements that increase engineering productivity and business outcomes.
• Participate in on-call rota and drive incident follow-ups with AI-assisted insights.
