Pleo is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Data Serving team, owning the boundary between raw product data and consumers including internal teams, AI agents, and customers. You will build the API surface and a fast serving layer with strict latency requirements.

You’ll work with a stack including AWS/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, BigQuery, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Airflow, Python, and Kotlin. This hands-on role emphasizes reliability, scalability, and security across data services.

Formación

• Strong backend engineering experience building and owning reporting and analytics API services and serving-layer infrastructure.
• A mindset focusing on reliability, latency, and SLOs.
• Experience owning API boundary layers including clean endpoint design, versioning, and contract stability.

Responsabilidades

• Build and own the Data API boundary: deliver clean, versioned endpoints for internal dashboards, customer-facing features, and third-party tools.
• Design and optimise read models, indexes, and caching in Postgres for low latency.
• Integrate with Kotlin-based product backend services to surface correct data for features.
• Own reliability and performance: monitoring, incident response, and SLOs.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers to define contracts between ingestion and serving DB.
