Pleo is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Data Serving team that owns the production‑grade boundary between Pleo's raw product data and everyone who consumes it, including internal product teams, AI agents, and customers directly accessing their own data. This Senior Backend Engineer role builds and owns that boundary: APIs and the low‑latency serving layer underneath it.

You will build customer‑facing infrastructure where contract stability and latency are non‑negotiable, and where

• Strong backend engineering experience building and owning data/API services.
• Focus on reliability, latency, and SLOs for customer-facing infra.
• Experience designing API boundaries with versioning and contracts.
• Deep knowledge of relational DBs with performance tuning.

Responsabilidades

• Build and own the Data API boundary for internal dashboards and customer features.
• Design and optimise read models, indexes, and caching for low latency.
• Integrate Kotlin-based product backends to the serving layer.
• Ensure service reliability with monitoring, incidents, and SLOs.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers to define clean contracts between layers.
• Secure APIs with standard authentication/authorization protocols.
• Develop near-real-time data aggregation across services.
• Define metadata, lineage, governance for explainability and audits.
• Own access control with row/column-level permissions and audit trails.
