Job summary

Qualifyze is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the Product & Tech team. You will design, build, and maintain data pipelines and data products across operational databases and the analytical platform, collaborating with product and backend teams to ensure timely, accurate data for product decisions.

We value strong Python and SQL skills, production data pipeline experience, and a solid foundation in software engineering.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Python for data engineering: robust ETL/ELT pipelines, reusable modules, strong testing (pytest) and observability.
• Strong SQL skills with PostgreSQL: complex query design, performance tuning, indexing, and reading execution plans for OLTP/OLAP.
• Hands-on experience with dbt: building, testing, and documenting models, ideally in layered project structure.
• Experience with Dagster (or Airflow): building assets/jobs, scheduling, monitoring, and handling failures in production.
• Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes: packaging and running data services in production.
• Solid grasp of data modeling: dimensional modeling and trade-offs between operational and analytical schemas.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable, and well-tested data pipelines and data products.
• Manage features and pipelines end-to-end: schema design in operational databases through ingestion, transformation, and delivery of analytical datasets.
• Contribute to the architecture of the data platform and evaluate technical trade-offs with the team.
• Apply and improve standards for data modeling, data quality, testing, and code review.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders to turn requirements into well-scoped data solutions.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve pipeline incidents, and improve observability and reliability over time.
• Share knowledge and mentor fellow engineers through pairing and code reviews.
