Job summary

Cumming Group in Madrid seeks a Senior Commercial Manager (Quantity Surveyor / Cost Manager) to lead commercial delivery on data centre projects across Spain and Europe. You will oversee cost control, procurement strategy and contract administration, guiding teams and clients through feasibility to close-out.

You will provide strategic leadership, risk management and value engineering, working with diverse stakeholders to secure successful outcomes across complex, high-value projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 10 years of experience in commercial management, cost consultancy, or quantity surveying on large-scale projects.
• MRICS, AssocRICS, or working towards chartered status preferred.
• Extensive experience managing complex commercial programmes with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong knowledge of NEC, JCT and other standard forms of construction contract.
• Proven track record delivering data centre, mission-critical, industrial, infrastructure or similarly complex projects.
• Strong commercial acumen with ability to provide strategic advice to clients and teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial and cost management services across multiple large-scale data centre projects.
• Develop and implement commercial strategies to support delivery and client objectives.
• Provide senior leadership on cost planning, budgeting and financial control throughout the lifecycle.
• Advise on procurement strategy, contract selection and risk allocation.
• Oversee tender processes, tender analysis and contract award recommendations.
• Lead negotiations and administration of contracts (NEC/JCT).
• Manage variations, change control, claims and disputes.
• Review financial performance, forecasts and cash flow across commissions.
• Drive value engineering and cost optimisation while maintaining quality.
• Provide governance and assurance across project portfolios.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants and contractors.
• Support business development and proposals.
• Lead, mentor and develop Commercial Managers and junior staff.
• Support regional leadership with reporting and resource planning.
