A collaborative engineering organization is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to work on UK water projects based in Spain. You will collaborate with diverse teams, contribute to civil designs, and drive innovative outcomes while maintaining sustainability goals. Here at MMB, we work as part of the @one Alliance and we are part of a totally collaborative organisation made up of other partner companies and our extended supply chain, delivering over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme. To support our work with @one Alliance, we are building a team based in Spain, giving you the opportunity to work on UK water projects as part of MMB. We are gearing up for AMP8, delivering a programme larger than we’ve ever delivered before, with a focus on nature-based solutions like wetlands and sustainable urban drainage schemes.

What will you be doing as our new Senior Civil Engineer?

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the project design team to produce civil designs for a diverse programme of wastewater treatment, infrastructure and water projects.
  • Develop new ways of working focused on delivering outcomes, reducing carbon, protecting natural capital, addressing climate change, and embracing innovations and digital technologies.
  • Grow internal and external networks with partners forming the @one Alliance.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Procurement, Stakeholder Management, Environmental & Planning, and Construction Managers.
  • Develop civil designs for water-sector assets; apply relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, water-sector guidance and Anglian Water standards.
  • Undertake hydraulic design of pipelines (pressure and gravity), open channel flow and closed conduits.
  • Design, schedule and specify pipes (ductile iron, steel, plastic); read drawings and models and produce design sketches for a Model.
  • Contribute to specifications, proposals, work scopes and schedules; develop designs from feasibility through optioneering to detailed designs.
  • Assist in Engineering Project Plans and ensure work aligns with timescales and budgets; inform the Technical Manager of deviations.
  • Assist with responses to Design Queries and Change Requests during assembly of permanent works on site; consider cost, HSE, programme, compliance and risk.
  • Prepare site investigation and survey requirements and record findings.
  • Ensure design output and procurement documentation meet standards and the Alliance Management System; develop efficient designs meeting project affordability and carbon targets.
  • Assist with management of Tier 2 sub-contractors; understand root cause analysis to balance capital and maintenance needs.
Qualifications and Skills

u2014 A degree in Civil Engineering or a similar qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline. Strong Civil Engineering background, ideally in the Water sector. Ability to work in a multi-disciplined engineering team and attend client / site meetings in Peterborough, UK.
