Job summary

IFF, a global leader in flavors, fragrances, and biosciences, seeks a R&D Senior Scientist in Benicarclo, Spain to advance biocatalysis-driven scent molecule development. Design, optimize and scale novel biocatalytic routes, report findings, and contribute to IP strategy within a dynamic Scent R&D team.

Qualifications

• PhD required in Organic Chemistry, Bioorganic Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field.
• 3–5 years of industrial biocatalysis experience preferred.
• Strong expertise in enzymatic catalysis and organic synthesis.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
• Proven ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement novel biocatalytic methodologies with direct application to scent molecule development.
• Develop experimental procedures, analyze and interpret data, and ensure accurate reporting and documentation.
• Conduct innovative research projects from early-stage validation through to scale-up.
• Explore advancements in biotransformation and organic chemistry through literature and IP research.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with chemists, biochemists, and chemical engineers; mentor junior scientists and trainees.
