Job summary

Joppy is seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale our backend systems powering AI-driven information verification and representation. You’ll work across layers, collaborating with the core team to deliver end-to-end backend solutions.

You should bring deep Python experience, familiarity with FastAPI, and a strong track record in distributed systems. The role supports a hybrid setup in Barcelona with a competitive salary and stock options.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on backend engineering experience with depth in Python, APIs and distributed systems.
• Ability to reason about technical decisions with clear pros/cons.
• Curiosity across end-to-end system components including infrastructure and data.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services using Python (FastAPI).
• Architect data storage and retrieval systems with SQL and NoSQL (Postgres, Redis, Cassandra, graph DBs).
• Develop and maintain scalable pipelines (batch and streaming).
• Work with AWS and Kubernetes in containerized environments.
• Explore AI tooling and enable cross-functional architecture decisions.
• Contribute to clean, pragmatic, high-quality engineering practices.
