JetBrains seeks a backend specialist to own entitlement, metering, and billing systems. You will design and operate JVM-based services, evolve data flows from licensing to quotas, and ensure correctness across distributed components.

The role focuses on building reliable APIs, migrations without downtime, and observability, collaborating across teams to keep revenue models accurate. You’ll work within the Licensing & Billing scope, applying feature flags and live migrations while improving

Formación

• Backend services on the JVM using Kotlin or Java.
• Knowledge of relational databases including PostgreSQL and live migrations.
• Understanding of distributed patterns: idempotency, retries, eventual consistency.
• Experience with live data migrations using feature flags and staged rollouts.
• Versioned, backward-compatible APIs for engineering teams.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and Kafka.
• Ability to diagnose, debug, and resolve production incidents.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Responsabilidades

• Design, build, and operate backend services that decide entitlements and usage costs.
• Own end-to-end data flows from licensing data to quotas and consumption.
• Evolve domain models for new commercial structures, including seat-based and usage-based plans.
• Design integrations with external systems with idempotency, ordering, reconciliation, and eventual consistency.
• Plan and execute live data migrations using feature flags and backfills.
• Build observability with invariants, metrics, and alerts to catch divergence.
• Create versioned APIs with good developer experience for JetBrains teams.
• Improve reliability under production load and decommission legacy subsystems.
• Write integration tests against real dependencies.
• Investigate production incidents and implement lasting fixes.
