Job summary

Merck Healthcare in Spain (Catalonia) is seeking an Agentic AI Platform Architect to design, implement, and operate a cloud-native backend platform that enables autonomous AI agents. You will write production code, build pipelines, deploy services, and guide a team across the globe.

You will own the platform architecture, work with EKS, Terraform, Helm, Argo CD, and GitOps, ensuring security, scalability, and operability. Strong AWS experience and IaC, plus GenAI familiarity, are essential.

Qualifications

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
• 8+ years of relevant experience building secure, scalable cloud-native backend systems at enterprise scale.
• Hands-on experience designing and operating production Kubernetes platforms (Kubernetes RBAC, networking, ingress, autoscaling).
• Strong production Python experience, including boto3, API integration, automated testing and operational automation.

Responsibilities

• Own the platform architecture, technical roadmap and ADRs within the broader agentic AI strategy.
• Design, build and operate the multi-tenant Kubernetes platform using Amazon EKS, Terraform, Helm, Kustomize, Argo CD and Argo Workflows.
• Build repeatable onboarding, promotion, recovery, and decommissioning capabilities through Azure DevOps and GitOps.
• Implement identity and tenant isolation across OIDC, Kubernetes RBAC and impersonation, AWS workload identity and secrets management.
• Design secure integrations with models, tools, MCP/A2A services and other enterprise platforms.
• Own operational readiness, including SLOs, telemetry, tracing, capacity, cost, incident response, upgrades, backup/restore and rollback.
• Develop and review production Python, Terraform modules, Helm charts and pipeline templates.
• Establish technical standards, documentation and reusable platform patterns, and mentor other engineers.
