JAS Worldwide seeks a Sea Freight Senior Operations Specialist for our Madrid on-site team. You will oversee end-to-end sea freight operations, coordinating bookings with carriers, managing documentation, and ensuring on-time delivery in line with customer and regulatory requirements.

You will drive exception management, optimize routing and cost efficiency, and collaborate with internal teams, customers, and external partners while supporting process improvements and performance reporting.

Role Description

The Sea Freight Senior Operations Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Madrid, responsible for overseeing end-to-end sea freight operations. Daily tasks include coordinating bookings with carriers, managing documentation, monitoring shipments, and ensuring on-time delivery in line with customer and regulatory requirements. The specialist will handle exception management, resolve operational issues, and optimize routing and cost efficiency while maintaining service quality. The role includes close collaboration with internal teams, customers, and external partners, as well as supporting process improvements, performance reporting, and compliance with company standards and industry regulations.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Analytical Skills to interpret operational data, identify trends, and support continuous improvement in sea freight processes.
• Candidates should possess excellent Communication skills to collaborate effectively with customers, carriers, and internal teams, and to manage clear documentation and status updates.
• Candidates should possess Sales-related capabilities to support commercial teams with pricing input, customer service, and retention through reliable operational performance.
• Candidates should possess Operations Management skills, including coordination of shipments, documentation control, and compliance with international shipping regulations.
• Candidates should possess Project Management skills to drive process optimization initiatives, manage cross-functional tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Solid knowledge of sea freight practices, Incoterms, and international trade regulations.
• Experience in freight forwarding or logistics operations, preferably in sea freight, in an international setting.
• Proficiency with logistics and transportation management systems, and MS Office tools.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and capacity to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Fluency in English and Spanish; additional languages are an advantage.
• Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field.
