ABB Robotics seeks a Senior 3D Perception & Computer Vision Engineer to advance perception capabilities for autonomous mobile robots. You will work with cross-functional teams across Spain (Sant Quirze del Vallès) and Switzerland, focusing on robust software for real-world deployment.

You will design and validate perception algorithms, mentor engineers, and contribute to IP and product improvements in a fast-moving robotics environment.

Formación

• 5+ years experience in 3D perception or computer vision in product-oriented or industrial environments.
• Proven industrial software engineering experience in modern C++, with Python; Rust is a plus.
• Experience with perception sensors such as stereo cameras, RGB-D cameras, and/or 2D/3D lidars.
• Experience with ROS, Linux, and Git in a professional development environment with strong validation.
• Familiarity with deep learning frameworks, MLOps, robotic navigation planning, embedded Linux (Jetson), and code optimization for compute-limited platforms is a plus.
• Ability to solve complex technical problems independently and collaborate across teams.

Your Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to make significant contributions to successful project outcomes in technological, software, and product development while also contributing to the generation of intellectual property (IP).Each day, you will act as a key technical contributor in Research and Development for perception-related product development, performance improvements, and maintenance of deployed systems. You will apply yourexpertisetoidentify, propose,design,and implement innovative solutions in computer vision and 3D perception for autonomous mobile robotics.

This rolecontributesto the 3D Perception and Navigation Team atSevensenseby ABB, part of ABB Robotics, with teams in Spain and Switzerland. You will work closely with Perception,Planning, Control, Test, and Application Engineers to develop,validate, and improve robustperceptioncapabilities for autonomous mobile robotsoperatingin real-world customer environments.

You will be mainly accountable for:

Leading the design,production-gradeimplementation,and validation of computer vision and 3D perception algorithms for autonomousrobotsoperatingin dynamic, real-world environmentswith a strong focus on robustness, maintainability, and product quality.

Ensuring fast development cycles and reliable releases by designing tools and performing experiments on real robots to evaluatealgorithm performance and failure cases in realistic conditions.

Contributing tothetechnical direction in your area of expertise by proposingnew ideas, creating hypotheses, and turning them into validated solutionswith clear customer and business value, and contributing to intellectual property generation where relevant.

Supporting and mentoring junior engineers through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and best practices in software development, experimentation, and documentation.

Qualifications for the Role

5+yearsexperienceand strongexpertisein 3D perception or computer vision, ideally in product-oriented or industrial environments,including the development and validation of algorithms in real-worldscenarios.

Provenindustrialsoftware engineering experience inmodernC++, with solid working knowledge of Python. Experience with Rust is a plus.

Experience withperceptionsensors such as stereo cameras, RGB-D cameras, and/or 2D/3D lidars.

Experience working with ROS, Linux, and Git in a professional development environment,together witha strong understanding of experimentation, validation, and performance evaluation for robotic systems.

Familiarity with deep learning frameworks,MLOps,planning in robotic navigation,embedded Linux platforms such as Jetson, andcodeoptimizationforcomputelimited platforms isa plus.

Ability to solve complex technical problems independently, takingownershipofperceptioncomponents in a product-driven environment, andcollaboratingeffectively across teams.

You are comfortable communicating in English.A degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is required.
