Job summary

Sensormatic Solutions, part of Johnson Controls, seeks an RFID Development Engineer to ensure RFID tags perform reliably in real-world retail settings. You will plan tests, analyze RF performance and contribute to new product development from concept to deployment.

Work with internal teams, suppliers and customers to optimize RFID systems, materials handling and store operations while driving continuous improvement and innovation in the RFID Innovation Center.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Understanding of product development and industrialization processes.
• Knowledge of RF technologies, antenna principles and electronic systems.
• Understanding of RFID technologies, applications and performance considerations.
• Experience using statistical methods and data analysis tools to interpret test results.
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and international teams.
• Strong analytical mindset with a structured and logical approach.

Responsibilities

• Conduct RF performance measurements, characterization and benchmarking of RFID tags and related technologies.
• Simulate and evaluate RFID use cases across distribution centers and retail stores.
• Assess RFID tag performance on different materials, merchandise categories, tag placements and orientations.
• Test and validate RFID printer and encoder compatibility, processability and reliability.
• Plan, execute and document laboratory and field test campaigns with accurate data collection.
• Analyze test data to identify trends, improvements and root causes of issues.
• Support new product development through technical expertise across the lifecycle.
• Participate in evaluation and implementation of new RFID technologies and equipment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers and customers to resolve issues and support qualification.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of testing methods and processes.
