The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) invites applications for a Research Engineer – Language Models for Science (RE3). The role focuses on designing, developing and evaluating multilingual and multimodal language models within the EVELYN project, in a cutting-edge HPC environment.

The successful candidate will contribute to research, documentation and dissemination, collaborate in a dynamic ML team, and meet demanding deadlines while advancing AI for environmental science at a leading

Formación

• PhD or Master degree in Computer Science, Computational linguistics, Physics, Mathematics or related
• Demonstrated experience of at least 4 years in machine learning
• Demonstrated experience of at least 4 years in deep learning frameworks
• Demonstrated experience of at least 2 year in LLMs
• Technical skills: Linux, Python, Deep learning libraries, git, HF
• Demonstrated experience in developing open-source software and resources
• Demonstrated experience in working in dynamic ML teams
• Good communication skills in English, both oral and written
• Good level of spoken and written Catalan and/or Spanish is not required but it is a plus

Responsabilidades

• Participation in EVELYN with tasks including but not limited to research, documentation and deliverables
• Design, develop and train multimodal LLMs
• Process multimodal data
• Preparation and presentation of scientific articles
• Supervision junior research engineers
• Participation in internal group meetings and other scientific discussions
• Preparation and writing of new scientific projects
