Santander seeks a Repo Trader – Analyst in Spain, Madrid area, within Corporate & Investment Banking. The role involves executing short-term repo trades, providing market levels, and collaborating with Sales, Risk, and Middle Office teams.

Ideal candidates will have strong analytical skills, proficiency in Excel, and fluency in English and Spanish, with exposure to fixed income or securities finance and a proactive, learning mindset.

Formación

• Bachelor's or Master's in Finance, Economics, Business Admin, Engineering, Mathematics or another quantitative discipline.
• High level of English and Spanish (Required).

Responsabilidades

Santander Corporate & Investment Banking (Santander CIB) is Santander's global division that supports some of the world's most complex and sophisticated corporate and institutional clients, offering customized services and value-added wholesale products to best meet their needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute and manage short-term repo transactions across European Government Bonds, including General Collateral and later Specials.
• Provide market levels and pricing indications in response to specific requests from Sales teams and other internal stakeholders.
• Work closely with Sales teams to support client activity and respond efficiently to market and financing requests.
• Monitor repo rates, liquidity, market conditions and supply/demand dynamics across securities and maturities.
• Contribute to the management of client financing needs and the efficient use of the bank's balance sheet and collateral.
• Support the optimisation of funding, collateral and balance-sheet usage while meeting client financing requirements.
• Identify and analyse relative value and funding opportunities across different securities, maturities and counterparties.
• Monitor trading risks, including market, liquidity, counterparty and settlement risks.
• Work closely with Trading, Sales, Risk, Middle Office and Operations teams to ensure efficient execution and management of transactions.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of analytical tools, data processes and trading workflows.

What You'll Bring

We are looking for a dynamic, proactive and analytical individual, comfortable working in a fastpaced environment and capable of making quick and sound decisions under pressure. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as the role requires regular interaction with Sales teams and other stakeholders, as well as the ability to provide clear and timely market levels in response to specific business and client requests. The ideal candidate will have previous exposure to financial markets and a strong interest in developing a deeper understanding of Fixed Income, Repo and Securities Finance. Experience in data management and analysis will be highly valued, together with a broad understanding of financial markets.

Professional Experience

• Previous experience or exposure to financial markets. (Required)
• Experience in Trading is valued but is not a requirement. (Preferred)
• Candidates with experience in areas such as Sales, Risk, Middle Office, Treasury, Securities (Required) Finance, Fixed Income or other market-related functions will be considered. (Preferres)
• Previous experience working in a fast-paced financial environment and interacting with different stakeholders will be valued (Required)

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics or another quantitative or related discipline. (Required)

Languages

• High level of English and Spanish (Required)
