Job summary

Jobgether partners with a company seeking a Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails, APIs) based in Spain for a fully remote, globally distributed engineering team. You will develop and maintain Ruby on Rails APIs that support internal workflows and automation.

You will collaborate with stakeholders to design, test, and release API solutions, applying secure coding practices and contributing to API reliability and security across the platform.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of professional software development experience with Ruby.
• Proven experience developing and maintaining Ruby on Rails applications.
• Effective Git skills and familiarity with established software development workflows.
• Ability to translate stakeholder requirements into clearly scoped technical tasks.
• Strong software engineering practices including automated testing and code reviews.
• Awareness of secure coding principles and handling sensitive data.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools and independently verifying generated code.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand workflows and define API-driven improvements.
• Design, develop, test, review, and release production Ruby on Rails APIs.
• Identify dependencies and communicate risks early.
• Apply secure engineering practices for authentication, authorization, and third-party integrations.
• Investigate defects, identify root causes, and add regression tests.
• Improve reliability and maintainability through code quality enhancements.
• Assess adoption and productivity impact of delivered solutions.
• Participate in domain modeling and technical design discussions.
• Contribute to code reviews and document API decisions.
