Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) seeks a Research Engineer to consolidate and further develop Earth data verification tools using R. The role is within the Data and Diagnostics Team in the Earth Sciences Department and involves coordinating tool development with users in an HPC environment.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor in CS or related field, strong R skills, and experience with UNIX/Linux, GRIB/NetCDF formats, and parallel programming.

Formación

• Bachelor in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Mathematics, Physics or related discipline.
• Excellent skills in R or similar languages.
• Knowledge of climate data formats (GRIB, NetCDF).
• Experience with UNIX/LINUX environments and scripting languages (bash, etc).
• Previous experience in HPC architecture and parallel programming (multi-threaded applications).
• Good programming skills to manage big and collaborative projects and experience with git.
• Fluency in English, both speaking and writing.

Responsabilidades

• Coordinate developments of Department R tools, in close relation with users, within a High-Performance Computing environment.
• Contribute to the deployment and installation of the packages in the shared department environment.
• Contribute to the ongoing strategy for the development of Earth Sciences Department tools.
