The Barcelona Supercomputing Center in Barcelona is seeking an HPC and Software Engineer for Earth Sciences applications to join the Performance Team within the Earth Sciences Department.

The Barcelona Supercomputing Center - Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is Spain’s leading supercomputing center, hosting MareNostrum, one of Europe’s most powerful supercomputers. BSC-CNS is a founding and hosting member of the former European HPC infrastructure PRACE, and currently hosts the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking. The center integrates HPC services and research in computational science for life, earth, and engineering disciplines. It employs over 1,000 staff from 60 countries.
Within the BSC Earth Sciences Department, led by Prof. Francisco Doblas‑Reyes, the team develops advanced, high‑resolution global climate models to simulate and predict climate phenomena with unprecedented reliability. The Performance Team, a sub‑group of the Computational Earth Sciences section, conducts R&D to identify and remove performance bottlenecks in Earth‑System Models, evaluating metrics and modifying code to improve computational and energy efficiency.
